Insects2016 Biodiversity
-
Ayush K. - The project is all about the diversity of insects in a certain location.
-
I’m trying to learn about the importance and impact of availability of water on the diversity of insects.
-
People can contribute to this project by collecting insects through different methods near and away from water sources (Keep in mind that the distance from the water sources must be recorded) and providing me with the data.
-
It’s already known that water is vital for almost all living beings and more diverse species of insects will be available in places where water isn’t scarce.
-
There’s a citizen science project that also concerns with diversity/variety of insects. https://www.opalexplorenature.org/bugscount
-
Makayla H. - The project is about how significant location can be when setting pitfall traps because location can be a large factor to determine the type of bugs you get.
-
I’ll be further observing which insects are more common in certain areas especially when dealing with the sun vs. shade variables because that is a determining factor to consider.
-
Contributions can be distributed throughout the project by others setting their traps in sunny and shady areas.
-
It is already known that shade vs. light is an important variable when dealing with insects.

These resources have helped me consider the variables and how to go about the project.
